The Bond Arms Cowboy Defender (BACD) is a 2-shot capacity .357 Magnum, .38 Special, .45 LC and .410-bore pocket-carry Derringer created around 3” stainless-steel double-barrels, a stainless-steel frame, stellar Rosewood grips and fixed sights.

The Bond Arms Cowboy Defender delivers a very high-quality double-barrel pistol in a very compact package with the aforementioned calibers. Overall length is 5”.

The classic-styled single-action wonder is mainly stainless-steel and is designed for right-handers. You get a crossbolt safety, an automatic spent casing extractor, rebounding hammer and retracting firing pins. It also has a spring-loaded cammed locking lever, which is pretty cool. The gun has an integrated front blade sight and a fixed rear one. In back is an upward thumb hammer. Even with all this, weight is just 19 ounces (or roughly 1.2 pounds). This gun is designed strictly for short-range usage and is effective from 1 to 21 feet.

Like many other manufacturers, Bond Arms makes about 20 different other barrels. What is rather unique is that the Cowboy Defender is compatible with all of them! The corollary is also true: the Cowboy Defender’s 3.5” barrels are compatible with any other Bond Arms pistol.

Of course, in each case, the superposed barrels make a single unit. Viewed from in front, each module makes a faceted figure 8 with flanks that are a series of horizontal and diagonal surfaces. Remove it using a 1/8” Allen wrench, put on a different barrel pair using the same, and that’s all there is to it. The firing pins line up regardless of chamber or barrel length, which is a pretty nifty trick.

The Cowboy Defender is like Bond’s own Texas Defender with one important difference. The Cowboy Defender has no trigger guard, and you can’t add one either. The Texas Defender has a trigger guard, but you can remove it whenever you want.

Additionally, the Cowboy Defender has a simple crossbolt safety to prevent the hammer from hitting the firing pins. It can even be locked into “on safe” or “off safe” positions using an Allen wrench. For drop safety, the hammer can’t move without the trigger being pulled.

The wonderful Rosewood grips are diamond checkered and have a large Bond Arms Long Star badge at their top that echoes the grips used on all other Bond Arms Derringers. The Bond Arms Cowboy Defender is Made in USA.

The Cowboy Defender was designed for Cowboy Action or the Most Compact Carry Concealed 32H&R protection available. The overall appearance is similar to the Remington Double Derringer of the 1860’s. The Cowboy Defender will accept all the extra interchangeable barrels.

  • Interchangeable Barrels
  • Automatic Extractor
  • Rebounding Hammer
  • Retracting Firing Pins
  • Crossbolt Safety
  • Spring-Loaded Cammed Locking Lever (for a tighter barrel/frame fit and Rapid loading and unloading)
